76 Shows, 2 Months,

and What I Really Learned About Surviving

(and Thriving) in the Grind

+ My Full HIIT Training Plan, Warm-Up Routine, and Recovery Toolkit

From January to March 2025, I performed in Oedipus at The Old Vic in London — a bold new production choreographed by Hofesh Shechter, featuring Rami Malek and Indira Varma. We started creating back in November, with intense rehearsals, back-to-back tech days, and only one day off in the entire period.

In just two months, we performed 76 shows. It was an incredibly rewarding experience — we were even nominated for Best Choreography at the Olivier Awards — and the joy I shared with my castmates and the team was something I’ll carry with me for a long time.

So, what happens when you step onstage 76 times in just two months?

You meet yourself — in the quiet in-between moments.

In the dressing room before curtain.

In the ache behind your knee.

In the emails you answer on the train ride home.

In the breath you steal between the adrenaline and the exhaustion.

This wasn’t a highlight reel.

It was the raw, unfiltered reality of what it means to show up — again and again — in service of your art, your integrity, and your bigger vision.

In the thick of it, I faced:

- A relentless show schedule

- Chronic knee pain that begged me to reimagine my relationship with training

- The weight of mental fatigue

- The chaos of running my choreographric career in stolen pockets of time

- And the quiet pressure of trying to hold it all together

But somewhere in the mess of it all, I found rhythm.

Not through pushing harder, but through softening. Through simple rituals, honest boundaries, and the quiet courage to ask myself what I really needed.

What I uncovered wasn’t a formula — it was a practice. A practice of sustainable excellence. A practice of listening deeply. A practice of protecting my energy so I could give it where it mattered most.
